FIRM PROFILE

Carbon Architects Incorporated

Established in 2012, Carbon Architects Incorporated is a multi-disciplinary architecture and urban design studio founded with the belief that it is the responsibility of architects to provide and promote good design as the foundation of a sound social and civic fabric.

Our aim is to actively engage the forces driving design and development, and to inform the way the public understands and relates to architecture and design.

Our team brings to each project a wealth and diversity of experience, a rich network of resources and strong relationships with people in many different areas of expertise.

Geoffrey’s creative vision for the practice is formed from the belief that good architectural solutions have their origins in a socially, culturally and environmentally responsive approach to design.

After completing the professional architecture programme at the University of Waterloo in 1994, Geoffrey gained extensive experience at firms in Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles, on projects located in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and China.

Geoffrey’s theoretical work is centred on the role of visual and spatial memory in architecture and design, including exploration of the Japanese Canadian community in the Powell Street neighbourhood prior to World War II. His written and creative work considers both the natural evolution and formal creation of cultural artifacts, including places, spaces, objects and events.
