This project for Ontario Realty Corporation (now Ontario Infrastructure and Lands Corporation) created a new LEED Gold office space in a courtyard suite of the historic MacDonald Block complex at the corner of Bay Street and Wellesley Street. Working closely with sustainable building consultant Green Reason, the project’s target of Silver was exceeded and a Gold certification level was achieved.
The open-concept office design for over 40 employees takes advantage of natural light streaming in from the interior courtyard of the Whitney Government Block buildings. The project also included four small meeting rooms, hoteling stations, one large conference room, two copy machine stations, two organizational zones for lateral filing and an accessible central welcoming reception area.
The project included many sustainable design features, including repurposed systems furniture, daylight harvesting, waste diversion during construction, recycled content in construction materials and more.
